Williams sausageWilliams Sausage: The sky is the limit!

In 1958 one man, Harold L. Williams, had a vision to supply the best sausage in the world with the key ingredient being country flavor. With determination and a high quality product, what started out as a one man, one truck operation, Williams Sausage is today one of the major employers for the Northwest Tennessee region.

Located on Old Troy-Hickman road in Union City, Tennessee, the manufacturing facility currently employs 414 staff, which is set to increase with 150 new placements over the next 2 years. This is due to a $3 million expansion the company is investing back into the business. The last expansion only occurred 2 years prior with a 47,000sq. ft. growth spurt.

“Williams Sausage is excited to announce the expansion of our plant in Union City, Tenn. and the addition of 150 new jobs over the next two years. In these tough economic times, we consider ourselves very fortunate and are thankful for the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development’s assistance in this major expansion of our business,” Williams Sausage President Roger Williams said.

We don’t take it for granted that we are based in a state with a very business friendly environment. Without this ongoing support, we would find it very difficult to make these investments in our business.

Governor Bill Haslam, knows the importance of sustaining and encouraging economic growth in regions like Northwest Tennessee, and addressed Williams Sausage’s contribution.

“I want to thank Williams Sausage for its continued investment in Tennessee and the new jobs created in Obion County,” Haslam said. “Companies like Williams Sausage highlight the importance of existing industries in creating jobs and help us toward our goal of becoming the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

Williams Sausage sells into 20 different states, which is a commendable achievement and far from the 20 mile delivery route taken on the very first day in business. “Tennessee’s unique business advantages allow companies with deep ties to not only grow but thrive,” said Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty. “With their investment, Williams Sausage Company is building on more than fifty years of success in Tennessee as it remains an important and growing employer of our high quality workforce.

Using the past as a guide, who knows what the next few years will bring Williams Sausage, the sky is the limit for this company.
